For approval by the EGM on the 13th September 2009

The new section is to deal with pastoral care and friendship support that has arisen out of some issues that arose out of practice in June this year. This will help us to be clear and what to do if things go wrong in the future.
This situation is now sorted out, but it would have helped if the constitution gave guidance when rather than if issues arise again.

The amended section is to institute working groups into the governance system to be clear about delegated decision making. This will make things easier and take the pressure of standing and community council meetings.

Moot Secure Site Link

This link will take you to the secure section of this site that has copies of sensitive minutes and financial reports.

You need to be subscribed to access this. Minutes
last two community council minutes were signed off.

2. Progress on Moot’s move from Ian:
nothing new to report. Ian to look into again on return from Australasia.

3. Constitution
Constitution has been agreed and completed; Jonathan Clarke has been accepted by diocese as Moot’s ‘Ordained Missioner Accompanier’

4. Financial report:
91% of those on electoral role are giving, £689.5 coming in a month; £2500k is in accounts with some expenditure needed for ROL service (new screen, video and music commissions)
Public liability insurance still to be done (Ian to do on return)
AGM will be needed for presentation of end of year accounts (and suggested constitution presented at same time). This AGM will need to happen end of May latest and on a Sunday preferably.

5. Standing Group
still has spaces on it

6. Meditation Group
Waiting for Pete and Linda to feed back

7. Proost Media
Andy Schofield to talk to Trine about getting a group subscription; Tim to talk to Andy re other ideas in pipeline for the creation of some images by him for Moot; Little services to be published by Proost

8. Electoral Roll
Noted that only those on roll can vote at AGM, therefore encouragement to be given at each service to all those not on Roll whom see themselves as part of Moot to add their names.

9.Tea for free
David constructing a ‘voluntary contributions tin’ which will have a revolutionary design that gives it the ability to accommodate both coins and notes!

10. Catering for next meeting
Richard to provide

11. Eucharist
More folk needed to do Eucharist (serving, incense preparation etc), Suggestion for working group to be established to look at writing more liturgies for Eucharist and to get the Bishop to bless them.

12.Rhythm of life Book.
A proposed book that looks at how members of the Moot community experience the Rhythm of Life. Suggestion that Aaron, David and Catherine draw up a tighter proposal in May/June so it could be implemented in the new academic year. (and run over a year) .

13, Existing Material
Richard to send round email re collecting together existing material that has already been created for other services

14. Messy Month/Mad May – a month where we don’t follow any set theme and allow for much more experimentation.
Somebody has volunteered for each of the Sundays so just need folk for Wednesdays sessions; It was suggested that some details need to be put up on line and possibly on cards (which Richard has volunteered to do) to communicate some idea of what is happening, and what (if anything), people need to bring etc.

15. Rhythm of Life service
More folk needed to attend!!!! Spread the word. Also
folk needed to do installations. Catherine Dixon to contact folk (?)

Eucharist Services
<table align="bottom" This is a page that people who are planning a big service in the next month or two can add ideas - draw together stuff as well as put out requests for music etc... Please after you have finished a service copy and paste it to the archived services page - this way we know what we have done and can reuse stuff

Big Serviceformat (click here for more info on the secure site)
In 2004 Moot agreed with STMW that the order of our Big Service will follow the flow of an Anglican 'Service of the Word' with the following headings:
Please use the big service planning sheet - as people always under-estimate how much work is involved! - click here

1. Welcome/Greeting
2. Acknowledgment of the presence of God
3. Prayers of repentance
4. Readings
5. Story telling/sermon/activity
6. Prayers for the World & Church (Intercessions)
7. The Lord’s Prayer
8. Blessing

It was agreed that starting stages 1 to 2 need to be set and that the ending with stage 8. However stages 3 to 7 can vary in where they appear but need to be present.Again – how each element is done is a matter of interpretation – but it was agreed that the title should either be said or projected to ensure that people are aware of what is happening in the flow of the service. In this way we maintain our 'ancient:future' perspective. Any queries or concerns to raise with Ian. It is good practice to discuss service format in the planning meeting before the service. Developing the Podcasts

Hi everyone,

Aaron Kenedy here, and its my first time actually using the wiki (to my horrible shame), so bear with me if I get it wrong.

This document is about my desire to develop Moot’s podcasting service. So far, it has been used as a means of enabling those who cannot attend services to access the content of the homilies. I would like to widen that focus to include a monthly discussion about some aspect of what it means to be people of faith in the context of wider society. The discussion would take the form of an interview of someone with something interesting to say. See a list of potential interviewees below. There would be an exchange between the subject, their area of interest/expertise, and the values and concerns of the Moot community. It will be the resposibility of the interviewer to represent the interests of the community.

Mission:
To serve the Moot community through the exploration of relevant issues regarding faith in relation to society, politics, justice, and culture.

Possible interviewees:
Ian Mobsby
Jonathan Bartley
Jonathon Aitken
Michael Warner (St. Paul’s)
Bishop of London
Archbishop of Canterbury
Bishop of Chicago
Pete Rollins
Sally Alsford
Heythrop Staff?
Local MP
Ed Hussein (tj@uksbd.co.uk)
Mike Radcliffe, Sarah DeNordwall, Peter

Rationale for interview topics:
These will reflect the general interests of the Moot Community, the interviewer and the interviewee. They will relate with current affairs, ask theological questions and confront theological difficulties. Importantly, they will seek to affirm faith at its most basic level, albeit in a way that doesn’t flinch from difficult questions or disarming possibilities. They will require the exercise of a common sense, sceptical approach to all propositions of faith.

Possible questions/topics: (Obviously all questions asked will reflect the particular interests of the interviewee and current affairs.)

1. The role of faith groups/the Church in protesting civil rights abuses. E.g. China in Tibet, Darfur and Burma. Is it appropriate to use the Olympics as a platform for protest? What are the under-pinning theological concerns that should guide our actions?

2. Advancements in embryology. Ethical considerations with regard to hybrid embryos. Issues surrounding the sanctity of human genetics; are we made in God’s image?

BBC NEWS WEBSITE
The Bishop of Lichfield, the Rt. Revd Jonathan Gledhill, said: "It's a very important part of our society and a very important part of the Christian faith that you should have respect for human embryos.

"If you stop obeying God you start to limit the rights of human beings and this is a case in point."

3. Homosexuality in the Church: Issues surrounding biblical inerrancy and interpretation.

4. Foundations of faith:
In these days of increasing scepticism regarding faith in Western countries, what is it about traditional expressions that don’t inspire confidence?

Biblical Errancy
Rejection of homosexuals
Cultural Irrelevance
Political Irrelevance
The ivory tower: separateness of church authorities.
Authority: individualism, the turn to the self; advent of the Internet and the accessibility of information.

5. The culture of consumption:
Is the church engaging to little or too much with this approach?
Ecumenism
Commercialisation
Too hip? Not hip enough?
Ancient:Future Approaches?

6. The emerging church:
A response to uncertainty:
Crisis of faith in religion and church authorities
Security crisis – fear and uncertainty about our safety as a society; our unassailability – faith questions are raised.
Critical rationalism

7. Activism: embodying our faith

8. Community: the role it plays in finding faith

All comments are welcome, and the topic will be under discussion at the next community meeting.

Aaron

Moot Services

Moot host several different types of services:

Moot's current weekly service plan

Big Services
Little Services
Eucharist Services
Scream Services

The links above will take you to pages where you can volunteer to lead, setup, setdown and organise tea/coffee.
